I have posted a bit about my little Angel’s glasses, but not about my own. I have had glasses since my first year of college. I am far sighted… but I rarely wore them. I hated having them slide down my nose and the way they made the grown look uneven to me. Each year I would wear them for a week or 2 when allergy season arrived. Other than that, they gathered dust unless we went to an occassional movie.
So, a few months ago my right eye started twitching. It did it constantly. Finally, I gave in and started wearing my glasses full time… and the twitch went away!!!! However, after a few weeks, I started getting headaches. I rubbed my eyes constantly. It was hard to take care of the kids as my patience would wear as my headaches grew during the passing of the day.
Finally, I decided I couldn’t wait any longer. It had been about 4-5 years since my last exam. (Yes, if you calculate, you will realize in that time I got married, changed jobs, went through fertility treatments, went through an infant loss, and had twins! lol) Low and behold, my prescription had changed. My left eye had gotten much worse, my right slightly better, and I had developed an astigmatism.
So, I tried on about 100 pairs of glasses and came up with this pair. A little bold and hip, but not too crazy. The price, however, was crazy. I did get them to bring the price down some (never hurts to ask). However, they were 6 times what I would have spent on zennioptical.com (a favorite place to get glasses!!!). I justified it… because after putting them on I felt immediately better!!!!!
WHAT?!!!! You chose to take care of yourself? Am I reading this correctly?!
Yep. Don’t do it very often. In addition, I nearly backed down and took them back!!!!! However, DH really wanted me to keep them. He said they look great and could be my Valentine gift. I’m thinking they should be my Birthday gift too! lol (I admit, it’s hard to spend money on myself).
Anyway, I bought something for me. Something I needed… but for me. One step for wondertwinsmom… one giant leap for women everywhere! lol

I was recently talking to a mom who’s little girl has a sore throat with her upper respiratory infection. She has not been drinking because her throat hurts. She asked for ideas. So, I passed along these thoughts.
When we, as adults, get sick with a cold or something where are throat hurts, we find a warm drink will often help soothe. That with some honey to coat the throat does wonders!
So, if you are in this situation, have a tea party!!!! Warm peppermint or chamomile tea is tasty. Add some honey to sweeten it up. If your child likes lemon, add some of that too. Your child will feel better and will enjoy having an old fashioned tea party with his/her parent!
(By the way, we don’t have tea cups. So, we just use coffee mugs. That in ITSELF is a novelty for them! lol We also dress up, if they are up to it.)

Up-cycle, recycle, and down-cycle are all ways of making old materials into new ones. Up-cycle means turning something into something better. With money being tight, I’m trying to focus on making things we can use out of old things around the house or things I find at Goodwill or similar used item stores.
So, my first one I’m going to share are Bree’s new curtains!!!!! I found some fairly bright curtains at goodwill. I think I paid about $2 for the pair. I used some fabric paint and some stencils to turn them into something FABULOUS!!!!!! She loves her new curtains! And they really add some “girly” decor to her room!

Bree is pretty much potty trained. However, only if she is wearing a diaper or pull-up. Yep, you heard me right. Dry 24/7… She NEVER pee’s in a diaper or pull-up but has an accident or 2 a day when wearing panties. Strange, I know.
So, I was talking to another twin mom, Dawn. She said swim diapers are WASHABLE!!!!! Wait… WHAT???!!! Yep, she assures me they can be thrown in the laundry and washed! I had no idea! How do we not know this?! Think how much money and waste could be saved if people knew this??!!!!!
That’s why I am passing on this little tip! It is too big to not share!
This may also be the key to not wasting money on pull-ups! (Yes, I have tried the cloth/lined trainers… she can still make them leak). So, I’m going to try having her use the swim diapers and WASH them!!! Cross your fingers for us!

Last week we went back to the Opthamologist. DH and I had both noticed Bree’s right eye turning in, even with the glasses. So, in the end the Dr. said she needs to start wearing bi-focals. Great. Everyone I mention this to says something along the lines of, “I thought those were just for old people.”
Anyway, we went to the glasses store next door and ordered her new lenses. We came home and… Bree lost the glasses. I have had my eye out for them since they were lost. Today I turned the house upside down looking for them… to no avail. I am at my wits END!!!!! I have to find those glasses!!!!!
The good thing is, our house is getting super clean and organized. The bad thing, still no glasses. Ugh!

My kids have gotten loads of tattoos this Halloween season. Which is fine with me! I would rather them have some little tattoos, stickers, or playdoh instead of candy.
Well, the other night we went crazy. I let them have as many tattoos as they wanted, which meant their arms were COVERED! We are going to another Halloween party… and guess what they will have? More tattoos!!!!! So, I decided to take the old ones off.
I had heard you could use baby oil, but we don’t have any. Not sure we ever did. I was never too sure about oiling up the babies. (We did use coconut oil massages). So, I got out the olive oil. I rubbed it on the tattoos. Massaged it in a little. And rubbed it briskly with a towel. They came off!!!! No screaming, whining, or squirming… they came right off. And now the kids have smooth soft arms!

My camera broke.
So now I can not take pictures of the kids… and all that is going on. What are we missing? New swing set, costumes (bought at Target on clearance for dress up), Halloween parties, trick or treating, Zane riding his tri-cycle, etc. I am sad and at a loss. However, I did contact Sony.
I have only had the camera since last November. So, it is still under warranty. Plus, I bought the extra 3 year warranty for $20 (a need when you have twin toddlers). When on the phone with Sony they asked if the camera had been abused. “no” Well, not really past usual life with twins. lol I sent it back.
I’m prepared for them to send it back to me and say it was abused. There are nicks on it from where it has been dropped. A piece holding the battery in snapped off near the beginning of it’s life. It has been used… well used… but by a mother of twins.
Did I take it out and beat it? no. Did I throw it? no… well, it may have been dropped a few times, but not intentionally. It was not hurt more than normal use. So, fix my camera and GIVE IT BACK!!!!! I have 3 toddlers who are growing every minute and NEED their pictures taken!!!!!!

Not sure why I have been so behind on the posts… I’m sure 3 2/12 year old toddlers running amuck, everyone being sick, and the rainy/cold weather have nothing to do with it. Oh well… I’ll try to be better.
Kids started preschool a few weeks ago. They now go 2 mornings a week for 3 hours. This has been a BLESSING for my sanity! Now, I have some time to run around, clean, etc with no toddlers! I think one of the best things is that I can take some time for me… I can shower without worrying about what they are getting into or hearing, “Mommy… Mommy… Mommy!” 5 billion times. AHHhhhhh it’s the small joys!
Here are some pictures from the past few weeks. There is a picture of them with their little back packs on, ready for the first day of school. There are also some from the fair, hiking, and Halloween. The kids are a “Princess” and a “Frog Prince” for Halloween. They look so cute… and best of all, they can run around and move easily!
I carved both pumpkins, at their request. We have one “Blues Clues” and one “Hello Kitty”. I love carving pumpkins! I’m still a kid at heart! I really get into the holidays and am so excited they are now at the age where they get joy out of them!
