• Welcome!

Welcome to my blog about raising twins! I post about my daily life with my twins and often include tips and suggestions on natural child rearing. I am a former nanny, a third-grade teacher, and the oldest of five kids. I am currently a stay-at-home mom, and I watch another child during the week. Welcome to my world!

What an awesome week!!!!!!!!!

By Admin On May 29, 2009 No Comments

So, a couple of things happened the last couple of days that made my year! I wanted to share.

First of all, I was elected on the executive board for Triangle Mommies of Twins and Triplets. I am now the new Secretary. Our local multiples groups is the 3rd largest in the nation! I am honored to not only be a part of this group, but also to be elected in this position. www.tmott.org

2nd, last week I was accepted as the moderator for a Triangle Mommies as the moderator for the Natural Living/Attachment Parenting group. NL/AP is something I am very passionate about! I am so happy to be able to be able to work with people who hold the same values as myself. This is also a great honor! www.trianglemommies.com

Finally, my kids cake is featured on the Yo Gabba site!!!! As you saw in a previous post, this is the cake I made of the twins 2nd birthday. I feel like I’m getting my few minutes of fame!!!!! Such an exciting week!!!! http://gabbafriends.com/courtneys-brobee-cake-recipe

Thanks for sharing my joy and accomplishments! If you are in the triangle, please join one or both of these groups! TMOTT is a great resource for tips on surviving twins. And TM is a great connection for mommies. It is a great way to meet friends, find playdates, get questions answered, etc. Both groups have been instrumental in my survival for the first 2 years!!!!! ;)

Bree-shu-wan-it

By Admin On May 28, 2009 No Comments

B has a new nickname… “Leggybug”. She is obsessed with bugs and calls them all leggybugs, instead of ladybugs. Anyway, she is quite the talker. She has recently become very opinionated in what she wants and doesn’t want! This little clip cracks me up. I just HAD to get her saying her recent “No! Bree shu-wan-it”. I think she is either saying Bree shouldn’t want it or Bree, she doesn’t want it. Anyway, it makes me chuckle. So, I thought ya’ll would enjoy.

Couple friends and not getting to relax

By Admin On May 24, 2009 No Comments

When you have a partner, you have groups of friends. We have hubby’s friends, and my friends. Then sometimes we find “couple” friends… those are harder to find… friends that have a husband and wife you BOTH like. Well, we lucked out. We have a “couple” friends who also have twins! They are about the same age as ours… you saw the tops of their heads in Thursday’s post.

Anyway, we are so happy to have them as friends. They came over this afternoon. The kids played in the pool, played cars, we went on a walk, ate dinner… then around 7:40 we put them all to bed.

The friends’ kids went right to sleep.

Ours’ did not.

It is now 10:40 and ds is still in his crib talking. Their routine or setting was not changed. The didn’t even know the other twins were sleeping in other rooms. Yet, the do not sleep. I did not feed them sugar. I have changed diapers. DD finally went to sleep about 15 min ago when the other kids left and I separated her.

This wouldn’t be so bad if they would sleep until 8 or 9. 6 or 6:30 is far to early if they are going to bed so late. ESPECIALLY, if I put them to bed at 7:30 and listened to them jabber away on the monitor all evening.

Ah the joys of twins. It is not all fun and games.

Wordless Wednesday…’er Thoughtful Thursday

By Admin On May 21, 2009 No Comments

So, I have been a bit slack with the posts. I don’t really have an excuse… 3 toddlers, colds, teething… nothing big. LOL Anyway, I haven’t forgotten you all. I thought I would post another picture today and try to get back into the blogging tomorrow.

Mother’s Day

By Admin On May 12, 2009 No Comments

The day started off rocky. Dh and I had gone out on a double date the night before and were both exhausted. But soon, we started getting in the groove. DH and the kids gave me cards and a gift certificate to get a tattoo (something I have talked about for awhile). Then we packed up and went to Duke Gardens. We had a fabulous time walking around together. It is GORGEOUS!!!! The rest of the day was spent relaxing in each other’s company. Overall, it was a GREAT day!!!

My great craigslist find

By Admin On May 7, 2009 1 Comment

I found this castle on craigslist for $75. If you want some cool toys for your kids, try craigslist, yardsales, or your local mommy groups. You save a ton of money… and usually stuff is in great condition and only gently used!

Kids 2 year pictures

By Admin On May 6, 2009 No Comments

A few weeks before the twins turned 2, we met with Courtenay Bickler. She is a photographer in the triangle area.
Now, I have gotten pictures with the twins several times… it seems to be getting more and more difficult since they have become toddlers. I was worried about trying to get both of them to even look at the camera.

We met Courtenay at Pullen Park. She got the kids to warm up to her almost immediately (no easy feat with my two). She followed us around, watching us feed the ducks, play, etc. We spent an hour or more. They did their own thing… lol. They didn’t want to listen to me… as I tried to set up “ideal” picture situations. I feared there would be no good pictures. They were… well, toddlers. lol

I was wrong! Here are a few she sent me. They are beautiful! They are not only great pictures, but they capture my kids… being kids. I LOVE them!
